The babies are 29 weeks old today!!
Tycen's bilirubin is up slightly today, but thank the Lord it's not high enough to have to go back to the phototherapy light (yet, anyway). They are going to continue holding his feeds until at least tomorrow and keep him on IV fluids because they said he's responding well and headed in the right direction. He is still gaining weight, too, which is a good sign. (He still hasn't gotten back up to his birth weight, though. He's 2 lbs, 12 oz today).
After listening to his heart, the doctor said it sounds like his murmer is getting better!!! She was surprised because usually this is something that takes weeks to resolve. Thank you all for your dedicated prayers. His heart murmer isn't completely gone, but it's headed in the right direction!
**Please continue to pray for his heart that his ductus arteriosis will close. Also pray that he will be able to go back on breastmilk soon and his digestive system will respond without any problems. Pray that his bilirubin levels will come down so he doesn't have to go back under the phototherapy light.
They replaced his PICC line today (to make it a true central line). He was such a trooper. They asked me to leave his room because they said it would make me less anxious, which would make them less anxious. They decided to just give him sucrose (not morphine or Tylenol for pain) and I did hear him crying, but overall, I think he did great. Luckily they only had to make one minor adjustment to it and then it was in the right place. Thank you, Lord!!
Shaylie is doing very well. They are increasing her breastmilk quantity daily. She is up to 1.9 mL/hour. She has now just passed her birth weight at 2 lbs, 6.5 oz. Grow, grow, grow!!
The doctor said that Shaylie was doing so well that she'd like to bring her CPAP down to a level 3 (I was told that the lowest they go is level 4 before going off of CPAP, but I guess because she's so little, they could trial level 3). Shaylie didn't like level 3. She had several bouts of apnea, which is very unlike her. They then brought her back up to a level 4, but I guess it takes a while to adjust again because she kept having the apnea issues. This is very scary for us because all of the alarms sound and we have to try to arouse her (most the time she comes out of it on her own, though).
**Please pray that Shaylie will remember to take deep breaths and won't have anymore issues with apnea or bradycardia (stopping breathing and slowed heart rate).
My mom met me outside again today and we did laps around the courtyard for about 45 minutes. Then she left town. I miss you already, mom!!! I cannot thank you enough for all you've done! You're the best :)
The highlight of my day was of course my skin to skin time with both babies (Tycen's we did very late, from 12:30-2:00am to allow him to rest from the PICC line procedure). The other highlite of my day was watching Scott take both babies temperatures for the first time!!
