Visitors

Grandma Jan and Aunt Mar came to visit us for 4 days in the middle of July. We had the best time with them and the kids just loved having them both here. I've had to slow down quite a bit to avoid having contractions so it was especially great having such fun and active family here to play with Tyce and Shay! They were in heaven :)

They drove up on Monday evening and the kids were so excited to wake up the next morning and see them at our house!

Happy kiddos :)

Shaylie loves to pose for the camera :)

Wearing Grandma's shower cap:

We went to Oaks Park for the first time on Tuesday morning which is a small amusement park in Portland. They open up the park for ages 6 and under on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the summer and only the little kids rides are operating. I've been wanting to take them all summer and I'm sure glad I had my mom and sister there with me because I wasn't able to go on any rides and there were definitely some rides the kids didn't want to go on by themselves.

Such a fun auntie! :)

...And Grandma! :)

Tyce really wanted to go on this spinning ride and Grandma Jan was such a trooper to go on it with him!

Tyce didn't want to go on this ride and Shay said she'd go if Aunt Mar went with her:

After the kids were done with the rides, there was story time on this stage followed by some music and dancing, which Shaylie of course loved :)

We ate lunch in SE Portland at a very yummy raw foods restaurant. We then came home and played until dinner time (Well, Grandma Jan and the kids played for a bit while Aunt Mar and I took a little catnap...couldn't remember what that was like, felt so good! :)

Aunt Mar knows a lot of songs from when she worked in a preschool. She sang a bunch of them to Tycen in Shaylie which of they couldn't get enough of! She was quite the child whisperer (pretty sure there is such a thing :). Anytime we had a melt-down or difficulties at bedtime, she'd start singing one of her songs and they'd immediately become silent and start singing along and then do whatever it was we were trying to get them to do...we wanted to keep her forever! :)

On Wednesday, we went to the concert in the park at Esther Short Park. I took the kids to every concert this summer (Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm, starting in early July through mid August). This is definitely one of our favorite summer activities that we've done every year since the kids have been born. This was the first year that we didn't go for a jog before the concert, but we did do picnic lunches and either played at the playground or the water fountain before and after the concert. We usually met up with friends and had play dates, too :)

The weather was pretty hot on Wednesday, so after the concert, we went to the water fountain at Jamison Square in NW Portland.

We met up with Scott for dinner at HopWorks in SE Portland:

On Thursday, we hung out at home in the morning and then went to the pool in the afternoon:

Having a dance party...Grandma Jan and Aunt Mar are so much fun!

Grandma Jan and Aunt Mar left on Friday morning. We had such a great time with them and are so grateful that they came up to visit us! We love you so much and can't wait to see you again!!
