They are getting so much bigger already. Tycen weighs 3 lbs 3 oz and Shaylie weighs 2 lbs 12 oz! Praise the Lord, Shaylie is digesting her fortified milk well and Tycen has pretty much passed all his meconium :)
Tycen stayed off CPAP again today. They want to give his nasal septum more time to heal. The doctor thinks he will probably go back on it tomorrow. He's been having some difficulty on the high flow nasal cannula regulating his heartrate and respiratory rate. His oxygen levels are lower than they were on CPAP, too. Even though it's so nice to see his handsome face and he looks more comfy on the high flow, I think he won't have to work as hard when he goes back on CPAP and hopefully can rest a bit easier.
**Please continue to pray for the development of Tycen's respiratory system and his PDA (which can be directly related to respiratory complications).
Shaylie stayed off all respiratory support again today! And she is doing so well. She is still having episodes of apnea and bradycardia (stopping breathing and subsequently slowed heartrate) which is normal for her gestational age. It's still so hard to see her go through it, though.
**Please continue to pray for the development of Shaylie's nervous system, that she will have decreased episodes of apnea and bradycardia.
News of the day:
Both babies head ultrasounds came back normal again!! This was their routine 2 week check-up. They will have one more ultrasound before they are discharged, at about 4 weeks of age.
**Praise the Lord for no intracranial hemorrhage!! Please continue to pray for healthy brains/nervous system development.
I slept in the babies' room again tonight. It was pretty difficult to sleep (but of course, well worth it) because of the frequent alarms that went of between Tycen's increased heartrate/respiratory rate and low oxygen levels, as well as Shaylie's apnic episodes.
**Again, thank you for your prayers for our babies health. It means so much to our family to know that we have such loving and dedicated support!
