Here are some pictures...
Shaylie during her first bath (Oct 7th). She did so well! I thought she might be fussy, but she seemed to love it. We were SO proud of her :) Her hair seemed to be lighter and have a hint of strawberry color to it after she got her bath. There's no sweeter smell than freshly cleaned baby!!
Tycen during his echocardiogram (Oct 7th). He did really well, he pretty much slept through the whole thing. The results showed that he has a moderate-sized PDA with minimal blood flow into his pulmonary artery (translation = not great but not terrible, definitely could be a lot worse. Still worth praying for, though!)
Uncle Kai came to visit (Oct 9th)! Since we missed his birthday, we had to give him his present a little late (policeman outfit). He wore it the rest of the day and got a lot of positive remarks from other visitors and patients in the hospital. Scott taught him how to direct traffic :)
Shaylie in peaceful slumber (Oct 11th). She and Tycen both love to sleep with their hands below their chin :)
Tycen's favorite time of day, hat check time (Oct 12th)!! Twice a day his CPAP comes off. I talked the doctors into letting me hold him for at least 5 minutes during this time so that he can get some positive touch without the head gear (as long as he's tolerating it well, which he always does like a champ!).
Tycen started to be weaned off CPAP today! He's now down to a level 4 (vs. level 5). This is the lowest level he will go before going off of it.
**Please pray that he will tolerate the weaning process very well and will be off CPAP very soon!
Shaylie has been breastfeeding several times a day. She is doing SO well!! All of the nurses, doctors and lactation consultants are very impressed with her. We weighed her today before/after she had breastfed for 15 minutes and she had gotten 10 mL of breast milk! This is very remarkable for a baby her size (who technically isn't supposed to know how to even latch on let alone coordinate breastfeeding). Today she was able to breastfeed for about 30-45 minutes at a time!
**Praise the Lord that Shaylie is surpassing milestones! Please pray that she will continue to progress and grow as healthy as possible. I would love for her and Tycen both to be discharged solely on breast milk (vs. fortified breast milk, which the doctors say never happens but at this rate...you just never know!).
