Special Day

On November 24, we had another 'special day' planned...this time, Shaylie got to go to an Oregon Ducks game with Daddy (the Civil War...thanks, again, Peg and Steve for the tickets!!) and Tycen and Alyssa got to go on the Mt. Hood Polar Express with Grandma Jan and Mommy!

The football game was in Corvallis, so they didn't have to leave quite as early as when Scott took Tycen to the Oregon game in Eugene.

Got her essentials for the big game...How adorable is she?!

Daddy's little girl :)

Shaylie got to ride with Aunt Peggy and Cousin Jill part of the way to the game...they kept her entertained and gave her treats, too...

...and even did her hair :)

Hanging out with Jake:

After the game, Scott took Shaylie on a dinner date at Bridgeport. What a special day! :)

Tycen was so excited for our special day! And I'm sure Alyssa was, too :)

Big brother kisses, so sweet :)

Lyssie must not have been too thrilled with our pre-express photo shoot...she wanted to get on with the day already! :)

We ate lunch at a cute and yummy organic deli in Hood River before boarding the train...

We had checked out 'The Polar Express' book from the library and also watched the movie before going on the train. Needless to say, there was a lot of build-up and anticipation for this special day!

So excited for the train ride! And a little nervous about meeting Santa!

Mommy and Lyssie's 'happy place', all snuggled up :)

This picture doesn't do much justice, but the view was quite pretty along the way to the North Pole where we were going to pick up Santa Claus...

So excited for his cookie and hot chocolate!

Look at that little lizard!

I wasn't sure if Tyce would be up for sitting on Santa's lap but when Santa came to talk to him, he picked Tyce right up and put him on his lap and Tyce seemed to be ok with it :) I guess Santa's not so scary afterall! :) Tycen told Santa he wanted a watch for Christmas.

Santa gave Tyce a bell, just like in the book/movie...

And this was our gorgeous drive home along the Columbia River...

We're so glad Grandma Jan got to be a part of both of our 'special days' with the kids. We always wish we could do things like this more often, but know that these time we do will always bring very special memories!
