Memorial Day Weekend

Grandma Jan came up to visit us for Memorial Day weekend. I had to work on Saturday but on Sunday we decided it'd be fun to head to the beach after church. We had such a fun time!

We arrived to the beach on Sunday afternoon and headed straight for Cannon Beach to get some special photos of Tycen and Shaylie (see next post :). We had a great time collecting shells and rocks, playing in the sand and flying our kite.

Shaylie loved flying the kite!

T-man was a little nervous at first, but decided to have a turn eventually :)

Cannon Beach is a special place for Scott and I, we went there on the weekend that he proposed to me and have pretty much been back there at least once every year since then :)

After spending some time on the beach, we drove up to Seaside and checked in to our hotel. We were within walking distance from the beach and the main street in town. The kids were excited to go on the bumper cars for the first time. We didn't think it was a great idea for me to go since I'm pregnant, so Grandma Jan was a great sport and went with Shaylie while daddy and Tycen went together. We also went on the merry-go-round before dinner, too! :)

We ate dinner at a very yummy seafood restaurant...

...and then had a little ice cream for dessert:

After dinner we walked back to our hotel and watched the movie 'Happy Feet' together. The kids did a great job falling asleep on the floor right next to one another (!) in their sleeping bags. We were pleasantly surprised to get a decent night's sleep in one room together as a big happy, cozy family :)

On Monday morning, we took the kids swimming in the pool:

After we checked out of our hotel, we walked back into town.
First stop was at the bumper cars again (this time Shaylie didn't want to go, so it was just daddy and Tycen).

We also thought it'd be fun to take the kids to the Aquarium:

Not the prettiest fish we've ever seen:

After the aquarium, we picked up some sandwiches to take to the beach for a picnic lunch:

Gotta love the swing sets on Seaside beach :)

We had to leave the beach just after lunch because we needed to get Grandma Jan back to Portland to catch her flight back home.

I had to include this picture...Grandma Jan and the kids slept like this on the way to the beach and on the way home :)

We had such a great time and we all wished we could've stayed longer. This was our first time staying at Seaside beach and we loved it! It's such a great place for kids. We will definitely make this trip at least once per year as a family tradition!!
