T-Ball

Tycen and Shaylie played their first season of little league this year and they absolutely loved it! T-ball is great for kids their age and really sets them up for success...every player gets up to bat every inning and there are no outs so the inning is over once the last batter runs home. They play 3 innings per game which would end up being just over an hour. It was so much fun to watch them and we were just so glad they loved it and loved playing in the games (much different experience than soccer! :)

A few weeks before practices started, they did an indoor training camp for a couple of hours:




Opening ceremonies, Tycen and Shaylie's team got to hold the flag:

They started off with two practices per week and tapered off quite a bit as they started games (usually once per week unless it was raining).

Every year the little league teams are a part of the Hazel Dell parade. This has been going on since Scott was a kid and he remembers being in the parade with his little league teams, too.

Scott and I walked behind the truck (while I held Alyssa in the Ergo...she slept the whole way :) The kids loved throwing candy to all the people watching the parade. It kept them entertained the entire way.

Tyce hit off the pitch the last game. He's actually much better hitting from a pitch than a tee (that's what he's had the most practice with at home).

Their end of the year party was at Bortolami's Pizza:

Shaylie and Tyce really liked all the kids on their team. They especially liked Andrew (Coach Doug and Jill's grandson, standing in the picture below), he was 6 and much bigger than the rest of the kids. He should've played a level above, he'd hit the ball way out in the outfield every time. They also really liked Connor (driving), he went to their preschool but was in the class above them (5 years old) so they'd get to play together on the playground sometimes.

They had about 10 games this season. We really enjoyed t-ball this year, the kids had a blast and Scott was in heaven watching them play...he'd chew his sunflower seeds and was really focused all game, just like the good 'ol days :) Way to go, Tyce and Shay! We're so proud of you!!
