Kite Festival

I took Tyce and Shaylie to Long Beach, WA on August 19th for the Kite Festival this year! Oma and Kai have gone to the Kite Festival every year for the past several years and we've been wanting to join them, so we were very excited that the timing and all the details worked out this year. It was also our first trip to the beach this year, too!!

We arrived just before Oma and Kai and decided we'd head straight for the sand to run around and play after our long car ride:

The kids love when we bury each other's feet in the sand:

The kids got so excited when we saw Oma and Kai approaching us on the beach!

Kai brought his frog kite:

Tyce helped me pick out a lady bug kite, which we bought from a vendor on the beach (Shay wanted to stay with Oma and Kai when we went to pick out a kite). It's called a 'sled kite' and is perfect for kids...it pretty much flies itself with just a little bit of wind :)

Overall, we had a great day at the beach! As you can see by the pictures, we were pretty bundled up because it was quite windy, which was also made it quite chilly but probably ideal for a kite festival :) Thanks, Oma and Kai, for meeting us at the beach! We hope to do it again next year!!
