Swim Lessons

Tyce and Shay took swim lessons for the first time last week. It was a parent/toddler class and we were so fortunate to have Grandma Jan visiting all week to join us and help make it possible! I've been really wanting to get our kids in the pool more often but I cannot do it by myself and since Scott works full-time it's been really hard to find time when we can both take them swimming, let alone swim lessons.

Overall the kids did pretty well but they definitely have a lot of room for improvement :) At this age, the class was more about teaching the parents different handholds and techniques to help facilitate our kids learning to swim. We sang a lot of songs and learned a lot of fun ways to get our kids more excited about swimming and being safe in the water.

Tyce was pretty petrified of the whole experience and really didn't like getting his head (especially ears) wet. Needless to say, he did NOT like the dunking portion of the class. Shaylie really warmed up to swim lessons and by the end she was really starting to like it (even though she was always a bit concerned for her brother). We are really excited about our upcoming trip to Bend, Oregon and hope to get a lot of swimming in while we're there!
