Scott is such a good daddy and decided to stay home from work so we could all celebrate the day together. After getting them dressed, we took pictures of each of them in their new rooms. The rooms are almost completed, but there is still a little more painting and finishing touches to make, so I will post more pictures when they're all done.

Opening their gifts from mommy and daddy:
Great teamwork!
After their morning nap, we took Tyce and Shay to the zoo! It's been a little while since Scott has been able to go to the zoo with the kids and we thought it'd be fun to see some of the animals we haven't seen there before, including the new lions!
This black bear kept pacing back and forth and stopped to stand on his hind legs when Scott started whistling. Not sure if he was just saying a friendly 'hello' or was letting us know he'd like to eat us for lunch, but from where we were standing behind the fence, it was very cute :)

Isn't she darling?!

First taste of birthday cake! I made them both a banana/applesauce cake. It turned out pretty good considering it had no added sugar, eggs or wheat. As you can see from the pictures, I think Tycen enjoyed it a little more than Shaylie did :)
After we got back from the zoo, Aunt Rachael, cousin Grace, Grandma and Grandpa Haij all came over to sing 'Happy Birthday' and watch Tycen and Shaylie enjoy their first taste of birthday cake.
Playing with cousin Gracie:
She is such a sweetheart and is so great with her cousins!

Tycen now weighs 19 lbs, 11 oz and is 29.5 inches tall. Shaylie weighs 17 lbs, 14 oz and is 28 inches tall. They both love to eat and are very good with eating all their vegetables and fruit. I've also started giving them lentils, egg yolk, plain yogurt and cottage cheese. They definitely have their favorites, but will eat everything we feed them. I am still nursing them four times per day and I'm pumping two additional times (once before bed and once at 4:30 am... yes, that's 4:30 am. I'm doing this so they can have a large bottle before they go to bed. My goal is to continue this until they're 1 year adjusted age, in December. Then I will probably stop pumping and eventually early next year go down to nursing just twice per day, once in the morning and once before bedtime).
Tycen's new favorite things:
*Clapping his hands, he is so proud of himself for doing this and loves doing it all the time. It is just adorable!
*Clucking his tongue, another trick he is very proud of :)
*Pulling himself up to stand
*Dancing
*Climbing stairs (he can climb a full flight of stairs--over and over--without help)
*Making bubble sounds with his lips and tongue
*Playing with Shaylie
*Using his legs to turn in a full circle while sitting on his bottom
*Playing with all the new toys he got for his birthday
*Opening cupboards and drawers
*Dropping objects to the floor
Tycen can now throw objects (thanks to his Grandma Dawn who taught him), I'm trying to teach him to just throw balls. He is also walking along furniture now, too.
Shaylie's new favorite things:
*Crawling! She is all over the place now and can transition in and out of all different positions
*Pulling herself up to stand
*Reading books
*Pointing to buttons
*Playing with Tycen
*Dancing
*Playing with all the new toys she got for her birthday
*Making bubble sounds with her lips and tongue
*Clapping
*Dropping objects to the floor
Shaylie is now giving kisses and she just started to do sign language ('more'), which looks a lot like her clapping. She is also walking along furniture.
Both babies are usually sleeping through the night, but will randomly wake up and just want to hang out in the middle of the night. They go to sleep around 7:30-8 pm and wake around 7-8 am. They are taking two regular naps per day (9 am and 1 pm) and occasionally take a late afternoon nap in the car or stroller when we're out and about.
I can't express enough what a blessing and joy they are to have in our lives. We've come SO far this past year. We never would have imagined how much our lives would change in such a short time. And we wouldn't trade it for the world. We love you, Tycen and Shaylie!! Praise God for blessing us with such amazing children!
